Types of cement mill liners: lifting-liners ... The Monostep lifting-liner has a continuous lifting action with a slight expansion of material charge, minimum ball charge dead zone and a reduction in wear. All these types have great grinding efficiency and reduced wear rates because of the continuous lifting action. They are used for raw and ...
Free QuoteJan 07, 2015 ~ Nael Shabana 201015~ 4.5 Measurement of Wear: Ball wear can be measured by weighing an entire charge before and after grinding a known tonnage of materials. With new balls sample of given size can be weighed before and after grinding a given tonnage and, assuming uniform wear per unit of ball surface, the total charge wear can be estimated.

Specific Wear rate, g/t (checked during maintenance of mills) ... Ball mills with high efficiency separators have been used for cement grinding in cement plants all these years. Ball mill is a cylinder rotating at about 70-80% of critical speed on two trunnions in white metal bearings or slide shoe bearings for large capacity mills. Closed ...
The liner- and ball-wear equations are typically written in terms of an abrasion index (Bond 1963). The calculated liner and ball wear is expressed in kilograms per kilowatt-hour (kg/kWh), and when multiplied by the specific power (kWh/t), the wear rates are given in kilograms per ton of feed.
Cement and Mine Mill Grinding Forged Steel Ball . 1.Feature: 1) High Hardness: Surface hardness of forged steel ball is to 60-68 HRC and volume hardness of rolling ball is to 60-65 HRC; 2) High Impact Toughness: The impact toughness is more than 12 J/cm2; 3) Low Broken Rate: The actual broken rate is not higher than 1%; 4) Even Wear-resistance: The wear rate of cast ball is 50-500 g/ton.

High–low double wave ball mill liners – These are a refinement of the wave liner, Figure 5. This was applied to Cadia Hill Gold Mine through evaluation of their existing wear profile and wear rate, and provided a more consistent wear profile through the liners working life.
Advantages of Shell Mill Liners: Optimum lifting action of the balls. Optimum expansion of the ball charge. Minimize the dead zone of the ball charge. Significant reduction of the wear rates of the ball and the liners. Minimum operating cost due to longer lifetime and no breakage of the liner plates.

Ball hardness is in the 60–67 HRC range. They wear better than 440C stainless steel and through-hardened carbon steel. They are also recommended for applications where a through-hardened steel ball is needed in larger sizes ( and larger). They are sometimes packaged with a very light oil finish to reduce rust due to humidity.
The actual wear rate for both the roller and table liners before hardfacing was 0.30 g/T. The measured wear rate with hardfaced liners was 0.12 g/T. The 50% reduction in wear rate with hardfaced liners was expected as data from other vertical cement mills indicated such a savings could be expected.
